What is Aromatherapy?

With a rich history dating back thousands of years, aromatherapy was practiced by ancient civilizations such as the Chinese, Indians, Egyptians, Greeks and Romans. Even then, the powerful link between aroma and emotions was recognized. Essential oils were used in a number of practices, particularly those of spiritual or ritualistic nature.

More recently, the term “aromatherapy” has begun to be used and researched to validate the effect of essential oils on emotions. Now, numerous studies have confirmed the power of essential oils to modulate moods and emotions. Each essential oil will create a different emotional response in each individual user, and as such, the information in this presentation simply provides a framework to guide each individual in their use of essential oils to promote positive emotions. You get to discover how essential oils affect YOU.

Key Point: Aromatherapy can promote positive emotions.

Delving into Mental Wellness, let's begin with how scents affect our emotions.  Essential oils are pattern interrupters. As we inhale them, their all-natural aromatic compounds literally interact with our olfactory nerve and contribute to breaking up our routine pathways of thought.

If we position positive thinking with using an essential oil, we can support our mind in reversing the neurochemistry of negative thoughts (which affect our health in negative ways), and inspire a positive thought that can help rewire our brain in positive ways.

The Emotions Mentor Wheel is a simple tool that you can use on your own to identify an emotion, reorganize your thinking and include an essential oil in the process to help the healing process speed up.
